Power surges are unpredictable and can have multiple causes like sudden voltage changes on a circuit, faulty appliances, storms, or supply faults in the power provider. Any extra current is redirected to the ground through the ground wire. The explosion connection remains in a dormant state until a voltage that is excessive in comparison to a standard one triggers it to direct additional current to the floor during the extra wire. This prevents excessive current from flowing into your house appliances thus protecting them from damage.
